The Okotoks Stingrays Summer Swim Club has been in operation since 1982. The Stingray organization provides an opportunity for participants, aged 5 – 18, to come together in developing a sense of achievement and pride. During the 2004 season, we had over 70 swimmers registered. We offer quality instruction from experienced coaches in all competitive strokes, starts, turns and finishes.
In addition to all facets of competitive swimming, members will

  • foster the concept of good sportsmanship while forming lasting friendships with teammates and competitors alike;
  • develop a strong sense of self-confidence
  • establish and strive to achieve individual goals
  • learn the importance of physical fitness / conditioning; Many experts advocate swimming as the best all-round form of exercise.
  • develop and maintain a strong commitment to oneself and the team;
  • foster a sense of responsibility and self-discipline

A heavy emphasis is placed on recognizing and rewarding personal improvement, thus fostering a strong sense of self-esteem in all swimmers.

Does joining a swim club mean sacrificing other interests normally enjoyed during the summer months? Absolutely Not! Camping? Annual vacation? Need not be sacrificed. You are in complete control of your time. There are no mandatory requirements pressuring you to attend all practices or meets.
